Better Days
Since that burst of colic (or whatever it was) 2 days ago, Princess Rae has been doing much better. What the heck is "colic" anyway. That seems like such an old fashioned term - the kind that people say when they want to attribute a medical problem to something completely unscientific or magical. Like when they used to say someone who fainted had a "spell" or a depressed person had a "nervous breakdown". But don't we have better guesses now as to what might cause a baby to cry in the absence of an evident problem? Like, my first guess would be intestinal gas pain. Maybe "colic" is just easier to say. Sort of like a nickname.
Know what's really cute? Sometimes when Baby Rae is sleeping she starts moving her mouth in a sucking motion like she's having a dream about eating. I guess her repertoire of life experience is pretty limited, and you have to dream about something.
I feel bad about being competitive with that other baby. Turns out he had to go back to the hospital and spend 4 days under a lamp because of being jaundiced. Poor other baby. He's home now though and very cute (if a little orange).
